| Musée de L´armée Paris France 2007 |
Country & City: France, Paris.
Date of visit: 2007/09/15
Summary: Very central in Paris lies the Hotel des Invalides housing The French Army Museum and the dome with Napoleon Bonapartes tomb. The invalides was bulit by order of Louis XIV as a home for war invalides and retired military personnel. Much of the museum exhitions focus on world war I & II with highlight on the occupation of Paris. Other topics are the colonial wars France has been involved in over the centuries. Seldom seen is the small items carried in a soldiers kit, everything from cigarettes, first aid kits, chocolate bars to personal belongings, they display it all here. For those with special interest in older cannons this is the place, there are 800 of them on the premises!
Rating: Enough to fill your afternoon but not a whole day. Very good & informative displays in nice surroundings. Worth a visit if in Paris.
