Country & City: Great Britain, Duxford.Date of visit: 2009/10/12Summary: One might say there are several museums in one at Imperial War Museum Duxford. You have AirSpace packed with aircraft, the Airborne Assault Museum, hangars 2,3,4 & 5 with renovation & exhibits, the American Air Museum showing American air power in Europe, and at the far end of the airfield lies Land Warfare Hall. The latter includes a fine collection of armoured fighting vehicles, the Normandy Experience and the tank running area. All this just 1,5 hours by train from Londons Kings Cross Station it's a given destination!Rating: Go there! Be sure to set aside a whole day for this visit due to the size of the grounds. Very helpful & knowledgeable staff & nice museum shop adds to the experience.Link: www.iwm.org.uk |
