Country & City: Great Britain, London.
Date of visit: 2009/10/09
Summary: In one sense you might call IWM the mother of all war museums. Not only because of the vast six storey exhibition in the centre of London and the four IWM branches in the country. They also possess one of the worlds largest archives of pictures and documents used both by other war museums world wide as well as for studies. Be sure to take special notice to the details in the uniform and weapon exhibitions, they do have it all. One exhibition that really stand out is the "Trench Experience" in which you walk around in a very well made full-size trench replica.
Rating: This being a revisit 11 years after the last one we decided to use the same summary & rating. Still a top museum with some new exhibitions it's always worth a visit. Here you have a full days visit, without a doubt worth the trip to London alone. The museum shop has much to offer, not to be missed. Also make sure to visit nearby HMS Belfast if time allowe it.
